What is Bar 10 Ranch and what kind of experience can I expect?
The Bar 10 Ranch is a guest ranch located near the north rim of the Grand Canyon on the fable Arizona Strip. Rough, dirt roads keep the ranch very isolated and personal. It is also a working cattle ranch raising 100% grass fed beef. Guests can expect a rustic, Western, friendly environment with fun outdoor adventures from horseback riding, ATV and UTV tours, and skeet shooting to thrilling Grand Canyon whitewater rafting on the Colorado River.
What makes Bar 10 Ranch unique compared to other Grand Canyon lodging options?
It is not a typical hotel with all the amenities to pamper a guest. The Bar 10 Ranch is more rustic allowing guests to have another type of experience outside of the norm. Our unique Grand Canyon lodging allows guests to have an experience similar to the good old days when people explored the rugged and wild west in covered wagons and slept under the stars. However, we have added a little more flare by including running water, flushing toilets and hot showers in easy access to the wagons/rooms. Thus our type of glamping (glorified camping) provides a whole new adventure. One worth writing home about and remembering for years to come.
What types of accommodations are available at Bar 10 Ranch?
There are three types of rustic accommodations at Bar 10 Ranch:
Covered wagons: three sizes
Family wagon: 1 king bed & 1 or 2 sets of single bunk beds (sleeps 4-6 depending on the wagon)
Queen wagon: 1 queen bed (sleeps 1-2)
Double wagon: 1 double bed (great for a single person but can work for a couple)
Dorm style Rooms inside the lodge: 1-2 sets of bunk beds in each room (sleeps 2-6 depending on the room)
Large Deck: Cot with sleeping bag, sheet & pillow to allow the experience of sleeping under the stars (great option during the summer months)
Is there electricity in the wagons?
There is limited power in each of the wagons for anyone with CPAP machines and/or small electronic devices that need to be charged.
Do I need a reservation to stay or have meal at Bar 10 Ranch?
A reservation needs to be made ahead of time preferably no later than 2 weeks prior to the trip date. The ranch can fill up quickly so booking further ahead of time will give more available options.
What outdoor adventures are included during a stay at Bar 10 Ranch?
It will depend on what package you book. There are 1-3 night ranch packages that include scenic horseback rides, skeet shooting, guided ATV and UTV tours to the Grand Canyon rim, etc. There are also longer raft trips that only include nights camping in the Grand Canyon and shorter Colorado River rafting adventures that include a night at the Bar 10 Ranch with some ranch activities and a night or two camping in the Canyon. There are also day trips that include either an ATV or UTV tour to the rim of the Grand Canyon and a round trip scenic flight from Las Vegas/Boulder City Airport.
Are Grand Canyon helicopter tours available through Bar 10 Ranch?
Helicopter rides are available most days during the summer season mid April thru mid September while we are doing our exchanges for raft trips. These rides go to the river and back (12-15 min round trip). Longer helicopter tours are also available in or around the side canyons to the Grand Canyon. Please note that due to regulations we do not offer helicopter tours in or through the Grand Canyon only a short ride to and from the river.
Can I start my Grand Canyon river rafting trip from Bar 10 Ranch?
There are 3 & 4 day Grand Canyon river rafting trips that start with a night at the Bar 10 Ranch and then include 1-2 nights camping in the Grand Canyon.

How do I get to Bar 10 Ranch?
Most guests fly from the Boulder City Airport near Las Vegas, NV on a flight that is arranged by the Bar 10 Ranch. Other options would be to drive or fly your own plane (only an option if not doing a raft trip) to the ranch
Are there multiple ways to reach the ranch?
There are typically three methods to get to the ranch: Own high clearance vehicle (jeep, truck, suburban, ATV, UTV, motorcycle/dirt bike), own plane, or book a flight through Bar 10 from the Boulder City Airport located just outside of Las Vegas, NV (nearest international airport).
Can I drive my own side x side or ATV to the ranch?
Guests are welcome to drive their own side x sides, ATVs, and/or dirt bikes to the ranch and then go exploring on their own.
Is fuel and/or ice available at the ranch?
For guests only, 91 octane gasoline is available for purchase at the ranch. Airplane/helicopter fuel is not available for anyone flying their own aircraft to the ranch. Blocks of ice are also available for purchase. Fuel and ice are NOT available to the public (people passing by).
No smoking policy
Smoking, vaping, or the use of open flames is strictly prohibited in all rooms, wagons, and inside the lodge.
Is Bar 10 Ranch open year-round?
The Ranch is open mid-March thru mid-November. Exact opening and closing dates may vary from year to year.
What can I do during my stay at Bar 10 Ranch?
Sign up ahead of time to do scheduled activities and adventures at the ranch. These activities are: horseback rides, skeet shooting, ranch demo, guided ATV and UTV tours, evening entertainment, etc. There are also free time activities that are available to anyone staying at the ranch for no additional cost. Those are: roping, ping pong, corn hole, horseshoes, pickleball, basketball, tetherball, billiard table, etc.
Is there a weight limit to ride horses?
Yes, guests must weigh 240 lbs or less to be able to participate in the horseback riding experience.
Is there an age limit?
The age limit for most raft trips is typically 8 yrs old but there are some trips that may require an age limit of 9 or 12 yrs old instead. The age limit to drive ATVs and UTVs at the Bar 10 Ranch is 16 yrs old and they must have a valid driver’s license. There is no age limit for the horses, however kids must be able to ride the horse by themselves and the length of the ride will be determined on how well they do.
Are meals included with my stay?
Dinner & breakfast are included in the lodging price. For a multiple night stay a sack lunch will also be included. Additional lunches may be added for an extra cost. Please book any additional meals no later then two weeks or more prior to the trip date to ensure that they will be available. Due to the remoteness of the ranch all meals have to be planned for ahead of time to make sure that supplies will be at the ranch.
Is there cell service or Wi-Fi at the ranch?
There is no cell service or public Wi-Fi available at the ranch. This is a very remote location and a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and unplug for a while. Enjoy time reconnecting with family and friends face to face without the constant interruptions of phone calls, text messages, emails, etc. Take advantage of the chance to rejuvenate and experience the refreshing clean air and the great outdoors.
What should I pack for my trip to Bar 10 Ranch?
Bring your own personal supplies –sunscreen, hat/sun visor, chap stick, canteen or water bottle, rain gear, layers of clothing so you can add or take off for changes in weather. Camera, batteries, flashlight. Soap & shampoo are supplied if only staying at the ranch. They are not included for those doing raft trips but is available for purchase in the gift shop. Guests may bring their own alcoholic beverages. Bar 10 does not have a liquor license so doesn’t serve or sell any.
Where do I meet to catch the ground shuttle to Cliff Dwellers or Page and what time should I be there?
You need to meet the St George Shuttle at 11:35am for an 11:50am departure. It will be parked in or around spot 16 at Zero Level of Terminal One at the Harry Reid Airport. It is just below baggage claim. If you are planning on flying into Las Vegas that same day we recommend landing before 10am otherwise come in the night before. This will allow some cushion should there be any delays getting into Las Vegas. If you have chartered something different than the regular shuttle then refer to your email confirmation or contact the Bar 10 Office.
When is the best time to visit Bar 10 Ranch?
It depends on what experience you want. If you do river rafting that is only available mid April thru mid September, anytime within that timeframe would be good. However, if you want to avoid the hottest part of the summer then the prime times to do those trips are in May, June, and mid September. If bringing your own ATVs/UTVs then mid March thru May and mid September thru mid November are the most ideal times to come.
How far in advance should I book my stay?
Raft trips fill up 6 months to a year in advance. Overnight experiences at the ranch only (no rafting) need to be booked no later than 2 weeks prior to the trip date but its recommended to book more than 60 days prior if you want more options. The ranch can fill up so it is wise to plan ahead and book early.
What is an appropriate gratuity for a trip?
The Bar 10 Staff will make every effort to see that your experience at the Bar 10 Ranch is enjoyable and successful. Gratuities for the staff are appropriate, greatly appreciated, and is an acknowledgement for their professionalism and service. If you feel the staff is deserving of a tip, please leave it in the tip box that is located just outside the door of the Gift Shop in the dining room. The typical amount is approximately $25-$45/person. A manager will distribute the tip equally among the staff. If doing a raft trip, gratuity for the boatmen is to be paid separate from the ranch and can be given directly to the lead boatman at the end of your trip. The approximate amount for raft trips is typically around 7- 10% of the trip cost.
What is your cancellation policy?

Package reservations are refundable less a cancellation fee of $35/person if written notification of cancellation (via email) is received at least 30 days or more prior to the trip date. Any cancellations within 30 day of the trip, or no shows are non-refundable.

Flight & Shuttle Cancellation Policy
All airfare and shuttle reservations are refundable less a service charge of $20/person if written notification of cancellation (via email) is received at least 30 days prior to flight/shuttle date. Any cancellations within 30 day of flight/shuttle, or no shows are non-refundable.
Regarding Cancellations for raft trips
Cancellation policies will be different for each of the raft trips so please refer to your trip information packet if you have booked a raft trip or contact our office for those details.
Can you host family reunions or group events?
We can host group events and possibly reunions if you book far enough in advance. Spring and fall are the better times for us to accommodate these types of groups if only staying at the ranch. We can typically accommodate 40-60 people depending on whether it is families, couples or singles and if they are able to share rooms/wagons or not. If it is during the Summer there may be options available in July or August during the week.
If seeking a raft trip for such an event then the max on a trip is 27-28 people depending on the trip and it could be anytime during the rafting season (May thru mid September).
What is the history behind Bar 10 Ranch?
The ranch was founded by the late Tony Heaton & his wife Ruby. It started out as just a working cattle ranch until Tony realized that he could incorporate the Grand Canyon and river rafting into the business due to close proximity of the Ranch and the Grand Canyon. In the late 1970s he started bringing people out of the canyon on mules, transported them in an old school bus on a rough dirt road to a dirt airstrip and then had them flown in small planes to Las Vegas. Then in the early to mid 80s he built a lodge for guests to stay in and then added covered wagons for extra sleeping accommodations. Also, the mules were traded for helicopters to bring people in and out of the canyon. The ranch has

Are there tiedowns for private planes at the Bar 10 Airstrip?
There are no tie down, stakes, or chocks available. Guests flying their own planes will need to bring their own to secure their plane.
Can guests fly their own plane(s) to the ranch?
Guests are welcome to fly their own plane to the ranch if they are only staying at the ranch and not
doing a raft trip. Any guests doing a raft trip will need to fly their own plane to either the Boulder City
Airport near Las Vegas, NV, or to Page, AZ depending on which raft trip they are doing.

Do you have alcohol at the ranch?
We do not serve or sell any alcoholic beverages at the ranch, however, guests are welcomed to bring their own.
